Maharlika Dos BOUND FOR LILOAN FERRY TERMINAL FROM LIPATA, SURIGAO confirmed to have sinked
along San Ricardo, Southern Leyte . Captain sent distress call and command to abandon ship.
Foreign vessel M/V Lara & St Martin LPG Tanker on its way positioning for rescuing of passengers.
Municipal and Provincial Rescue teams are on-standby along San Ricardo port due to bad weather.
Coast guard now doing necessary actions. 3 vessels are working together but rescue operations
is difficult due to Habagat
According to Chiefmate Abapo of the ill-fated M/V Maharlika II, between 3:30 PM- 4:00 PM,
they were able to account 68 passengers including 2 children and 31 crews on-board,
all are wearing lifejackets before the Captain called to abandon ship. Only 24 passengers
and 6 crews are confirmed to have been rescued as of 11PM.
Released list of survivors who are now at Lipata Terminal, Surigao and CARAGA Regional
Hospital as rescued by Maharlika 4.
