Kadaugan sa Mactan, an annual week-long commemoration of the 1521 historical battle that took place in Mactan between the locals led by Mactan chieftain Lapu-Lapu and Spanish conquistadors led by Ferdinand Magellan will be commemorated this year from April 19 to 27, 2013.

April 19

The festivity will start off with a floral opening with the Air Force Band and Honor Guards on April 19 at 7 am. in the Lapu-Lapu City Auditorium.

This will be followed by the opening of the food festival that will be held at the Liberty Shrine at 6:00 in the evening
of the same day.

April 20

On April 20, the food festival will continue at the Liberty Shrine starting 6:00 pm. Later at night, there will be a Mask
Dance Extravaganza at 7:00 pm and a Live Band entertainment at 9:00 pm.

Both the food festival and live band activities will happen every 6 pm and 9 pmm, respectively, at the Liberty Shrine from April 21 to April 25.

April 23

The Flair Tending Competition will be on April 23 at 7:00 pm, still at the Liberty Shrine.

The Liberty Shrine or better known as Mactan Shrine is the site of the actual battle between the locals and the Spaniards.



At 5:30 pm, people will see the Lapu-Lapu City Dance Sports Kids perform at the Liberty Shrine.

The Reyna Bulakna pre-judging will happen at the 360 Stage fronting the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex starting at 6:00 in the evening.

At 6 p.m. in the Liberty Shrine, on same day, is the pre-battle ritual at 8:00 pm and a fireworks display at 9 pm.

April 27

The day starts with a Holy Mass at 6:00 am in the Liberty Shrine followed by flag raising, followed by the 21 Gun Salute-Military
Honors by the Philippine Air Force Contingent (PAFCON) at 8:00 am.

At 9:00 am, the Kadaugan sa Mactan Reenactment will happen, followed by the day's program that Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz C. Radaza will open with her welcome remarks and feature some speeches from the guest speakers.

The flower drop will be at 10:00 am. All these will happen at the Viewing Stage or VIP Stage.

The Kadaugan Street Party will kick off in the late afternoon at the M.L Quezon National Highway. The road stretch will be closed starting 4:00 pm.

A photography contest and car show will transpire at 5:00 pm.

In the evening, the Rampada Street Dancing Competition will happen followed by the Rampada Showdown Judging at 9:00 pm,
announcement of the winners at 11:00 pm, and the fireworks display and street party around midnight.

The City Government invites everyone to join any or all of the events in the week-long celebration.
